Since ‘iron men’ first began to sail British Columbia waters in their little wooden ships, there have been shipwrecks. Not all resulted in total loss of the vessel as, almost from the beginning, attempts were made to salvage all or part of the ship’s cargo or the ship itself. With improvements in the techniques and equipment of hardhat diving more and more salvage attempts were sucessfully accomplished.
